We believe in the importance of preventative care.
Preserving your natural teeth is our number one concern.
Our dental practice welcomes general dental care as well as complex cases. If you are looking for regular maintenance, cleanings, x-rays and dental consultations, contact our office to set up an appointment.
We believe in preventing major dental problems, which is why we provide comprehensive new-patient exams where our patients get a close-up look at their teeth and gums, any underlying health issues and prevention strategies. We’ll work with you to setup a customized plan with checkups, treatments and personal care recommendations.
But, overall good dental health also requires more than your routine teeth cleaning at our office. Home care is essential in preventing cavities, gum disease and other long-term dental issues. This is why our dental hygienists spend time with our patients during their regular checkups to ensure they know how to properly brush, floss and prevent tooth decay.
Our team is also happy to offer general adult and kids dentistry, including:
Most dental insurance companies cover two dental cleanings per calendar year. Check with your insurance company for coverage information. We are happy to accept patients without insurance as well and make patient financial accommodations when needed.
As a part of your routine cleaning, our dental hygienists will help reduce the buildup of tartar or plaque in between your teeth and gums with gentle cleanings. Just as we recommend for home care, we will also floss your teeth and have provide a fluoride rinse upon completion.
During your visit, ask about our many patient amenities, which will allow you to relax and enjoy your time with us. Our staff will supply you with a new toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss to sustain your preventative care at home. Contact Dr. Ammon’s office to setup your teeth cleaning.
All of our patients will have a final consultation with Dr. Ammons after your teeth cleaning. Dr. Ammons will examine your teeth, go over all x-ray results and make qualified recommendations for your any necessary preventative care or treatment plans.
X-rays are important steps to ensuring preventative and restorative dental care. Dr. Ammons will be able to make proper tooth, gum and oral cancer assessments with their digital x-ray technology. Your x-rays will be shown to you on our 42-inch patient in-room screens. We will also save your digital images electronically and attach them to your patient files for future records. In the event a specialist or insurance company needs to review your x-rays, they can be easily shared electronically.
Cavities. We all – or almost all of us – get them. When a sticky bacterium forms along the gums or tooth, weakening the tooth enamel, you probably have a cavity. Don’t fear; Dr. Ammons will apply resin or composite-based fillings to your teeth, strengthening it back to its natural state with an aesthetically pleasing look.
Symptoms of cavities may include tooth pain or visible holes in the tooth. Cavities are easily detected during your routine teeth cleaning and examination. Dr. Ammons will use a dental instrument to probe your tooth. Soft areas normally indicate the presence of a cavity and x-rays confirm this assessment.
As a part of our preventative care program, we will focus on your gums, ensuring we proactively monitor and take care of your gums. Periodontal or gum disease occurs when the gum pulls away from the tooth. Over time, an infection occurs that affects the tissues and bone that support the teeth.
Follow our preventative care tips for brushing, flossing and balanced diet to avoid gum disease and ensure proper gum care.

Taking Care of Your Teeth & Gums
Brush your teeth twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride. We’ll provide you with an ADA-approved toothbrush during your visit. This brush will help you remove food particles and plaque, helping to prevent buildup and tarter. We suggest brushing for at least two minutes followed by gentle flossing. Limit sugar intake and eat a healthy, well-balanced diet to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Most people understand the importance of flossing – to remove the food and buildup that is very difficult to reach with a toothbrush – but many choose not to floss or do not know how to floss effectively. Avoid dental bacteria and tooth decay by using the floss provided to you during your regular routine teeth cleanings with Dr. Ammons. We recommend that you floss once a day right after you brush your teeth.
